AB 261 – Requiring the board of trustees of a school district or the governing body of a charter school to ensure that instruction is provided to certain pupils on the history and contributions of certain groups of persons; revising provisions relating to the selection of instructional materials by the State Board of Education.
Explanation of AB 261
AB 261 would force school districts to adopt instruction in diversity and inclusion in the K-12 system. The bill demands that each school district adopt instruction in K-12 on the history and contributions to science, the arts and humanities of persons of marginalized sexual orientation or gender identity.
This bill passed the Assembly with absolutely no Republican supportyet the Democrats in the Legislature showed true colors by still rushing this bill through.
