Update & Urgent Action Request from the 81st Legislative Session

Good morning from Carson City,
The 81st Session is upon us and the Nevada Republican Party and our elected officials are ready to stop the Democrats before they play any more political chess with Nevadan’s livelihoods. Last session we were able to defeat the Sanctuary State Bill (AB 281) and are looking to build off this momentum. Now no longer in the super minority in the Assembly, Republicans are able to halt some of the advance of the left’s radical agenda.
Although the 2020 Elections were rampant with voter fraud, Republicans were able to make gains in both the Assembly and Senate showing that Nevadans are tired of the same failed liberal policies.
Already, Democrat special interest groups have sent a letter to Governor Sisolak to raise taxes as a way to offset economic losses due to Covid-19 shutdowns. Republicans disagree with these potential tax increases as they are counter-productive to Nevada’s economic recovery.
Now more than ever we need your help! We have passionate grassroots activism that when push comes to shove, always rises to the challenge.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. Email me at alex.watson@nevadagop.org and I would be more than happy to help you out.
Starting today we need your help! The first task among Republicans is to call legislators in leadership NOW and tell them that Election Integrity is needed in Nevada. As these are just drafts at this point, we do not have the full language of the bills but will share when those become accessible. We need folks to DEMAND that the following Bill Draft Requests (BDR) are heard this session:
  • BDR-24-801 (Assemblyman Matthews)- Revises provisions relating to the election.
  • BDR-C-652 (Assemblyman Wheeler)- AJR: Proposes to amend the Nevada Constitution to require the Legislature to canvass the vote and certify election results.
  • BDR-24-690 (Assemblywoman Dickman)- Enacts the Nevada Election Accountability Act.
  • BDR 609 (Assemblywoman Hardy)- Revises provisions governing elections.
  • BDR 24-649 (Assemblyman Ellison)- Requires proof of identification to vote.
  • BDR 24-537 (Assemblywoman Hansen )- Revises provisions governing elections.
Contact the following legislators by phone and email everyday telling them that election reform is needed in Nevada and you want these BDR’s to be heard this session:
Speaker Jason Frierson:
Office- (775) 684-8637
Majority Floor Leader Teresa Benitez- Thompson:
Office- (775) 684-8845
Asst. Majority Floor Leader Daniele Monroe-Moreno:
Office- (775) 684-8509
Legislative Operations and Elections Committee Chair Brittany Miller:
Office-(775) 684-8844
Legislative Operations and Elections Committee Vice Chair Sandra Jauregui:
Office- (775) 684-8821
We encourage you to speak your mind and share your own thoughts, but below is a sample script of what to say to these legislators. E-mail statements that are similar in message (such as copy-and-paste scripts) will be filtered through the NVLeg emails and legislators will only receive one email with that language. We encourage you to write your own personalized email. The premise is to express the request for election integrity bills to be heard:
“Secure and fair elections are important to me. We’ve had many issues with elections in Nevada, and the following legislation will help clean up some vulnerabilities in our election laws:
  • BDR-24-801 (Assemblyman Matthews)- Revises provisions relating to the election.
  • BDR-C-652 (Assemblyman Wheeler)- AJR: Proposes to amend the Nevada Constitution to require the Legislature to canvass the vote and certify election results.
  • BDR-24-690 (Assemblywoman Dickman)- Enacts the Nevada Election Accountability Act.
  • BDR 609 (Assemblywoman Hardy)- Revises provisions governing elections.
  • BDR 24-649 (Assemblyman Ellison)- Requires proof of identification to vote.
  • BDR 24-537 (Assemblywoman Hansen )- Revises provisions governing elections.
We need to do better at executing free and fair elections. That’s why I’m contacting you to ensure that these bills are heard during this session. I urge you to do the right thing and make these bills law to ensure every voter, regardless of party, feels confident in the election process. These changes will also save our State money during these challenging times. Please have these BDR’s heard this session.”
Thanks for all you do,
Alex Watson
