Nevada GOP Takes Over Las Vegas Review-Journal Homepage and Launches Three-Day Newspaper Ad in Reno Gazette Journal

The Nevada Republican Party announced today it launched a takeover of ads on the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s homepage and full-page ad in the Reno Gazette Journal educating readers on Governor Sisolak’s failures during his coronavirus response as well as making it clear Nevadans demand a plan from the governor on how and when he plans to re-open the Silver State.

The Review-Journal takeover will run all day Sunday, while the full-page ad in the Gazette Journal will run three times this week.

The ads highlight many of Sisolak’s failures over the last few weeks, including his restriction on a potential treatment for coronavirus; appointing the Lord of Layoffs Jim Murren to lead Nevada’s economic response after the former MGM CEO took a $32 million payoff only to lay off his front line workers just weeks later; and blaming President Trump over a lack of resources despite failing to request a major disaster declaration for weeks that would expand access to the very resources the state needs.

The ad also hits the governor for not having a plan for how and when he will re-open Nevada’s crippled economy. As thousands sit at home, quarantined, unemployed and stressed about when they’ll be able to get back to work, Sisolak has failed to reassure these Nevadans he is looking out for their interests. His lack of preparedness is not providing any comfort for those struggling during this terrifying and uncertain time.

With over 300,000 Nevadans having filed unemployment claims during the crisis, State Senate Republican Leader James Settelmeyer requested last week that Sisolak inform the public of a plan to get small business back open, people back to work, and kids back to school.

Sisolak has not yet provided any answers.

The ads encourage people to visit www.ReOpenNevadaNow.com to sign up if they agree we are long past due a plan for the future, as well as call Governor Sisolak’s office to voice their concerns.

“The health and safety of Nevadans is the number one priority, but people deserve to know how the economy is going to open back up again and a timeline on when,” said Nevada Republican Party Executive Director Jessica Hanson. “Governor Sisolak has repeatedly failed and fumbled during his coronavirus response. It’s time he focus on our future and reassure Nevadans he knows what he is doing.”
