Washoe County Precinct Meetings
February 1, 2020 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am
The Nevada Revised Statutes require that the major political parties hold precinct meetings and a convention every two years. In a Presidential Election year, we have a Caucus where a presidential preference vote for our choice for the U.S Presidential nominee for our party. This year, because we have an incumbent Republican President, we will only conduct our precinct meetings and have a County Convention.
PRECINCT MEETINGS
Our Washoe County precinct meetings will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at various local schools. Check in begins at 8:30 a.m. with a photo ID. Precinct meetings begin at 9:00 a.m. and end no later than 10:30 a.m. You will be able to find the location of your precinct meeting by going to www.washoegop.org. At the precinct meeting, members of each precinct will nominate members to the Washoe County Republican Central Committee, elect Delegates and Alternates to the County Convention and discuss what they would like to see on the Republican platform for the County, State and National Republican Party.
The Washoe County Republican Central Committee manages the business of the local Republican Party. The membership is derived from the precincts. The newly nominated Central Committee members will be elected at the County Convention.
The members elected from the precincts are involved in the election process, support and work for Republican candidates, vote on internal changes to the Central Committee and are the sole source of eligibility to be on the Nevada Republican State Central Committee. Since this is a new election cycle for the two-year term of the County Central Committee, attend your precinct meeting and have a voice in the grass roots of your party’s business.
