Democrats Zero In On Nevada’s Miners

As Nevadans reel economically from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nevada Democrats have zeroed in on raising taxes on the state’s crucial mining industry.

“The reality is we have a huge shortfall, and this is not about villainizing the mining industry,” Assembly Speaker Jason Frierson told the Nevada Independent about Democrats’ impending proposal to raise the industry’s taxes.

But take it from Assemblywoman Shannon Bilbray-Axelrod, no one should buy that this isn’t about villainizing our miners.

While speaking about the industry and her desire to make them pay, Bilbray-Axelrod viciously attacked Nevada’s miners and made the disgusting claim that they are “raping the earth.”

This is the same Bilbray-Axelrod who registered as a foreign agent for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to lobby Congress to prevent the families of 9/11 victims from suing the world’s largest oil producer for damages.

Governor Sisolak has previously said he would not support a tax increase on the mining industry, but why should Nevadans trust him to keep his word?

Sisolak previously said he wouldn’t support any tax increases before quickly reversing course and absolving himself from all leadership responsibilities when he said it would “depend on what the legislature comes up with.”

Democrats like Bilbray-Axelrod and Sisolak have proven themselves to be hypocrites and unable to rise to the challenge that is before them.

Nevadans, including those that work in the mining industry, are struggling but Nevada Democrats don’t care. These greedy lawmakers have made it clear they will have no problem taking hard-earned money from Nevada families.
