Sisolak Protects the Lord of Layoffs in “Press Conference”
LAS VEGAS – Broadcasting from a nondescript and undisclosed bunker, Jim Murren held a “press conference” regarding his new role leading the COVID-19 Response, Relief and Recovery Task Force today.
It was nothing more than a façade.
Gov. Steve Sisolak’s office filtered questions and made it clear only ones asked “relating to the task force’s activities” would be posed to the Lord of Layoffs.
Sisolak’s office protected Murren from questions about why Nevadans should trust his judgment in leading Nevada’s economic response after accepting $32 million to leave his role as CEO only to lay off his front line workers weeks later with just two weeks of pay.
Reporters weren’t able to ask if Murren was planning to give the money back to MGM to ensure laid off employees don’t have to worry about keeping a roof over their families’ heads and putting food on the table.
The Lord of Layoffs was able to breathe easy knowing the governor would protect him at all costs.
And Sisolak has refused to address choosing Murren to head this task force, or share a message to laid off MGM employees that are angered by the Lord of Layoffs’ golden parachute.
The lack of transparency isn’t lost on anyone. Sisolak and Murren can’t hide from the public forever.
