Carson City Nevada Legislature Recap
Well, it’s over. The Legislature has adjourned until 2021.
The last 24 hours of session was a whirlwind, with Democrats passing their tax increase without a 2/3 majority (thus ensuring a lawsuit), same day voter registration heading to the Governor’s desk, and enough funding for teacher pay increases to avert an illegal strike.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t ask you one final time to call Governor Sisolak at (775) 684-5670 and urge him to VETO A.B. 345 (same day voter registration) and A.B. 291(omnibus gun control legislation).
With that business out of the way, I wanted to take a minute to thank all of you on behalf of the Nevada Republican Party. It truly is remarkable how much we accomplished this session, despite our numbers disadvantage in the Legislature.
In fact, there is no doubt that our organization did more than any other conservative outlet in the state to stop bad bills, get earned media, and define what Democrat control in Carson City looks like.
Nevada’s voice in the presidential process was saved and we won’t become a Sanctuary State because of this team’s efforts.
Because of our team, Nevadans know that Democrats launched a vicious attack on school safety.
And it was this team that uncovered for the rest of the state to see that Democrats broke their promise to not raise taxes.
I hope you are proud to be a part of the Nevada Republican Party. We put up a tremendous fight that was noticed by Nevadans across this state.
We are still calculating the exact numbers, but I can report we raised more small donations during this legislative session in the Nevada Republican Party’s history. It’s inspiring.
And the response to our upcoming candidate school has been fantastic as well. Nevadans aren’t happy with the direction Democrats are taking this state, and they are determined to do something about it.
I hope you are proud to be a part of the strongest, most efficient conservative team in the state. I know I am. And I am honored you joined me in this fight.
But there is no time to rest. Now we must get working to elect good Republicans to the Legislature and reclaim Nevada.
We can do this.
Sincerely,
Josh Skaggs
