Immediate Attention Required for the Following Bill Hearing:

– Revising the duties of the Director of the Office for New Americans; prohibiting, with certain exceptions, a public utility from disclosing certain customer information for any purpose relating to the enforcement of immigration laws.
Explanation: Last legislative session a bill passed creating the Director of the Office for New Americans which “shall advise the Governor and each state agency on all matters relating to the formulation and implementation of policies, programs, and procedures affecting the immigrants in this state.” This bill adds that Nevada “must facilitate the integration and inclusion of immigrants in this State… Must not exclude or limit an immigrant’s access to any service, program, right, or privilege beyond any exclusion or limitation required by law… A public utility shall not disclose the name or address of any customer to a federal governmental entity for any purpose relating to the enforcement of immigration laws unless such disclosure is required by federal law or a subpoena, warrant or court order.”
SB300 is moving us to a sanctuary state providing all government services and programs for illegals and preventing the enforcement of immigration laws (Courtesy of Janine Hansen).
While we support providing resources to legal immigrants, we cannot support legislation that enables violation of our immigration laws.
