Meet John Tsarpalas\, Nevada Policy Institute and Carson City Fire Chief.\n\n\nJohn Tsarpalas is the President of the Nevada Policy Research Institute and is deeply committed to spreading limited government ideas and policy to create a better\, more prosperous Nevada for all.\nJohn spent the first 25 years of his career as a commercial construction contractor in Chicago. As government regulations and state and local taxes expanded exponentially in his home state of Illinois\, he realized that\, as a business owner\, he had to became more active in the world of politics.\n\n\nIn 1996\, when Newt Gingrich drafted the Contract with America\, John became active in Republican political campaigns. After five campaigns where his candidates were the only Republicans elected in Democrat districts\, he was recruited to become the Executive Director of the Illinois Republican Party in 2005. Mayor Crowell has led Carson City to the top 100 on Milken Institute Best-Performing Cities Index. Carson City made the second biggest leap in the rankings of 201 cities\, jumping 78 spots from 141 in 2017 to 63 in 2018. Carson City was ranked third in job growth from 2016-2017 and 50th in job growth in the 12-month period between August 2017 and 2018. \nAfter THREE consecutive terms\, he has a lot of experience to share about being Mayor and in public office\, this is your chance to learn from his experiences serving Carson City. \nMayor Crowell mentioned in his 2019 State of the City – “the credit for all the good things happening in the community we call home goes to you\,” he said. “Government can do some things\, but it takes you\, the community\, to build sustainability for succeeding generations and a quality of life that is the envy of all.” \nPlease join us in support and thanking Mayor Crowell for his service and let’s learn from his experiences. NO RSVP is required. \nSome information about our Mayor you may not know. \nRobert L. “Bob” Crowell is a native Nevadan\, born in the mining town of Tonopah and raised in Carson City. An attorney by profession\, Bob is a Vietnam Veteran and retired Navy Captain. \nBob was elected Mayor of Carson City in 2008 and assumed his duties as Mayor on January 5\, 2009. Prior to being elected Mayor\, Bob served 11 years on Carson City School Board of Trustees. He has twice served as School Board president. \nIn his capacity as Mayor\, Bob serves as Carson City’s representative on the Nevada Association of Counties Board of Directors and is that organization’s representative on Board of Indigent Defense Services created by 80th session of the Nevada Legislature and appointed by the Governor. Bob also serves as the president of the Nevada League of Cities and Municipalities. He is a member of the Carson City Redevelopment Authority and chairs the Partnership Carson City Advisory Committee. \nActive in his community\, Bob has served on the Board of Directors for the Carson Area Chamber of Commerce and is a Past President of that organization.
