To all the Dad’s out there – Happy Father’s Day.
It has been a little over a year since I lost my Father & I miss him, a lot. But, each day I catch myself emulating him in some way. A gesture, an expression, or sometimes passing on a life lesson that he taught me. He’s never far from my thoughts and will always be in my heart.
My Dad, John, loved many things in life – God, the Catholic Church, my Mother, his children and Notre Dame football. I was lucky enough to have a Dad that taught me everything a boy needs to know about being a man. He taught me to love God & my family. He taught me about honor and about resect. He taught me how to play football and we loved watching it together. He loved to travel, the beach was his favorite and he loved the occasional cigar.
My Dad taught me to open doors for women and pull out their chairs. He taught me to say please and thank you and he taught me fight for what is right, to protect the innocent and to never give up. These are lessons I use daily and I’m grateful I had such a superb teacher. My Dad will always be my hero and I want to be just like him.
Our thoughts and prayers will be with the families that are mourning the loss of a Father and with the families who’s Father’s are abroad protecting us and our Country. May God bless and protect all the men (and women) that away from their families today in order to protect mine.
Today, I wish all you Dad’s out there a very Happy Father’s Day.
