WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on the report issued today by the House Select Committee on Benghazi, which interviewed 81 new witnesses and uncovered 75,000 new documents to provide the most detailed account of the 2012 terrorist attack that killed four Americans:
“The new information in the majority’s report on the Benghazi terrorist attack makes clear that Hillary Clinton and the Obama Administration engaged in a politically-motivated cover up weeks before the 2012 presidential election. Hillary Clinton knew the night of the attack it had nothing to do with an internet video, and yet she shamefully peddled this false narrative to the American public and to the victims’ families. This in itself is a disqualifying act of deception.
“This report also sheds new light on the systemic security failures of the Clinton State Department, which repeatedly refused requests for additional security in Benghazi and left diplomatic outposts in other troubled parts of the world vulnerable to attack. Hillary Clinton was in charge, knew the risks and did nothing. Together the report’s findings make clear we cannot afford to let Hillary Clinton be our next commander-in-chief.”
