With almost a year having gone by since the Obama administration agreed to its reckless deal with Iran, supporters of the agreement like Catherine Cortez Masto are finding their position harder to defend, with Iran pledging to continue testing long-range ballistic missiles.
This weekend, after the United Nations issued a scathing rebuke of Iran’s missile tests, considering them to be against the spirit of the nuclear agreement, Iran responded by saying it will continue tests. Even as it claims to be complying with the deal, the Iranian regime will continue building long-range weapons that could threaten Israel and American allies in Europe. Despite the Obama administration’s misleading campaign to sell Iran’s moderation, it is clear that Iran is far from committed to pursuing a peaceful relationship and continues to pose a threat to the United States and its allies.
Still, Catherine Cortez Masto, either out of ignorance or partisan loyalty, continues to support this reckless deal. When asked about the the agreement in an interview last September, she couldn’t even name a single aspect of the deal that she’s concerned with, despite the inexplicable gaps in the deal that allow Iran to test dangerous long-range missiles. Cortez Masto’s stance on Iran shows a disturbing lack of judgement and understanding of America’s national security needs. She clearly is not ready to represent Nevadans in the United States Senate.
